Daryl Brooks

Principal

Daryl Brooks is man of action. He is a successful and accomplished Licensed Residential Builder in Michigan and carpenter contractor with over 100 million square feet of building and renovating experience. Daryl started his building and real estate interest at the age of 13 helping his parents’ rehab 24 houses that they rented out for several years and eventually sold on land contracts. At the age of 19, Daryl then joined the United States Navy where he served and qualified, in record time, aboard the USS Stonewall Jackson, a ballistic missile submarine. He finished his time in the Navy as a hospital corpsman at the Naval Hospital in Oakland, California. During his time there, he earned a Navy achievement medal, was sailor of the month, the quarter and runner-up for sailor of the year. Upon leaving the Navy, Daryl returned to Michigan where he started his career in building and remodeling. Over the next several years, he worked on building homes and condos from 1,000 to 22,000 square feet and numerous remodeling and renovation projects. He eventually ended up at Auger Built Carpentry, the largest carpentry contractor in Michigan at the time. At Auger Built, Daryl successfully managed 300 rough carpenters, 26 trim carpenters and completed over 5 million square feet of building per year for fifteen years. His work included building homes, apartments, townhomes, banks, commercial buildouts, LIHTC {Low Income Housing Tax Credit} projects and numerous remodeling/renovations of large-scale apartment projects. In 2012, Daryl made a decision to open his own carpentry company, Stellar Building and Construction, LLC. He employs 20+ full time carpenters and generates in excess of 1.45 million in top line sales. In, 2019, Mr. Brooks became a Principal Owner of Value Add Partners, Inc. alongside with his business partner Kevin Hackbart.
Daryl has worked with most, if not all, of the largest apartment owners and investors in Michigan, building and restoring their properties. Daryl loves his family and enjoys spending time with them. His family includes his wonderful wife of 36 years, Monica, his four adult children; Alexandra, Mallory, twin sons Blake and Mitchell and his three grandchildren. When he can he is camping, exploring new places, golfing and riding his road bike or gravel road bike.

Kevin Hackbart

Principal

Kevin Hackbart has been in the real estate industry for 15+ years. His career started in 2003 after purchasing a “rehabbed” home for his family. Seeing the quality of that home, he realized there was a better way and that is where his real estate career began. Since that time, he has flipped, rented and or partnered in over 100+ houses in the North Texas area.
Transitioning into the Multi Family sector, Mr. Hackbart has extensive experience in the multifamily, student housing and senior housing sector respectively. To date, Mr. Hackbart has successful renovated the interior and exterior of over 1000+ units nationwide. With a focus on ground level management, cost and budget savings and ongoing maintenance systems, Kevin’s passion and dedication to deliver on time and on budget is second to none. Mr. Hackbart has earned the trust of the many large management and capital corporations as a trusted partner for their construction needs. From mold remediation and large water loss rebuilds to all cap ex. type improvements, clubhouse and unit renovations, his company has renovated and remodeled thousands of square feet nationwide. In addition, his connections and business relationships throughout the country enable a nationwide footprint for all ventures. In 2019, Mr. Hackbart became a Principal Owner of Value Add Partners, Inc. alongside with his business partner Daryl Brooks to bring a trusted partner to the multifamily investment community.
Along with his construction and real estate investment background, Kevin Hackbart is a veteran of a Dallas/Fort Worth area fire department where he served as an engineer and paramedic for close to 20 years. Mr. Hackbart currently lives in a small-town south of Fort Worth, Texas. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his two beautiful daughters and is an avid golfer.

Jered King

Operations Director

Jered started his career in the construction industry in 1993, where he worked as an electrician’s helper in the residential field. Jered quickly moved out of the role as helper and started to run his own jobs which include complete wiring of single-family homes, townhomes, and custom homes. In 1994, Jered joined the United States Air Force where he became a Firefighter/EMT and served just shy of 5 years. His assignments include Anchorage, Alaska and San Antonio, Texas. Moreover, Jered was also deployed to Saudi Arabia to support the Enduring Freedom Campaign.
After completing his military service, Jered returned to his hometown of Orlando, FL and continued in the construction industry. Jered started as an electrician apprentice, then moved into the position of Electrical Field Manager. Jered continued his interest in the construction industry by working for some of the nation’s largest home builders, such as Pulte, David Weekley, and Toll Brothers. In addition, Jered has spent time as a Warranty Representative, Builder, and Construction Manager. Through these experiences, Jered has gained extensive knowledge with managing a multitude of crews on multiple job sites simultaneously.
At the downturn of the market in 2006, Jered returned to the fire department and spent the next 10 years serving the citizens of Central Florida. During his time in the fire department, Jered worked as a part time Maintenance Manager, where he was in charge of maintaining 80+ properties, both single family and multifamily. Jered has also run multiple full home remodels, as well as kitchen and bath remodels including his own personal residences.
After retirement from the fire department in 2017, Jered was brought on as a Project Manager for 10/10 Construction, LLC. a commercial construction company which specialized in student housing renovation nationwide. Jered was appointed as Director of Construction and deemed in charge of running multiple projects across the US. These projects include club house renovations, exterior renovations, unit rehabs, water remediation, fire loss and mold remediation. In 2019, Jered accepted the position of Operations Director with Value Add Partners, Inc. to continue his construction experience, professional growth and continued working relationship and friendship with Kevin.
Jered currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, is married to his beautiful wife Joy, and they have 4 children, Jaida, Madelyn, Cameron, and Spencer. In his free time Jered enjoys wood working, mountain biking, collecting vintage skateboards and the occasional craft beer.
